June 29th 2017 – O2 Academy, Bournemouth
What a bonus tonight. Not only do I get to see The Dropkick Murphy's locally, but they've got my all time faves, The Living End, as their support act!!!

A little bit different tonight in many ways. Firstly this wasn't The Wonder Stuff, it was Miles and Erica, but playing their stuff and the Stuffies stuff.
Secondly, this wasn't your usual venue. Never did I think (with due respect) the Miles Hunt would play Ferndown!! But now in folk lore....I was there!
I had The Waterboys bug again so seeing Mike and the boys for a second time this year!
Well, it's been a while since I saw Mike and the boys! and what a return it was....A great mix of old and new
Well, this one a funny old day out! In many ways, one of my favourites even though it got a bit tedious after a while. Really wish I still had a ticket stub for this one, just because it was so different from my normal concerts.
November 16th 1996 – De Montfort Hall I've no idea why Runrig turned up in Leicester in 1996. They had recently released a new album "Long Distance" but weren't particularly well known (I didn't think). Any which way, they were doing a full UK Tour. I'd come across them through a liking of Irish music... Continue Reading →
May 14th 1995 – Leicester Arena (De Montfort Uni) Supported by: The Libertines? Very much in the way I had previously been so excited to see Maria McKee come to Leicester, Kirsty MacColl was another big must for me. Another feisty thing and classy singer. She had been married to legend producer, Steve Lillywhite, she... Continue Reading →
April 8th 1994 – Kettering Arena Supported by: Gigolo Aunts I'd already seen The Wonder Stuff at Walsall Football Club and this would be the continuation of my seeing the Stuffies in strange venues. I mean, for a start, Kettering Arena! I was a little bit snobby about seeing them play at Walsall FC (it... Continue Reading →
November 21st 1993 – Leicester University I had no interest in the support band on this day. This gig had been a long time coming. I'm fairly sure I went on my own to this one, as I don't recall anyone else being interested in the singer of "Show Me Heaven" from the Tom Cruise... Continue Reading →
December 14th 1991 – De Montfort Hall Always good to catch up with a band who you saw in a smaller town venue and then they move up the the big city gig! It was 1984 when I last saw New Model Army and I'm really quite surprised it was a 7 year gap between... Continue Reading →
June 22nd 1991 – Walsall Football Club Supported by: This is on the list of concerts where, for whatever reason, I appear to have lost all memorabelia for it.....so this is an example of the ticket for the day, but not my original one, I know not where that has gone 😦 I will see... May 7th 1989 – De Montfort Hall This was a bit of a nostalgia pub outing. We used to watch Robin of Sherwood in the DeMontfort pub on New Walk, Leicester and had seen Clannad back in 1986. This was their greatest hits tour as they had just released the "Past Present" album which was... Continue Reading →
March 14th 1987 - De Montfort Hall Now, the newspaper article I have seems to suggest the concert was at the university......this isn't my recollection or that of Setlist website or other websites. I'm pretty sure it was the De Montfort Hall, although I don't have this ticket either to prove it...another pissed up youthful... Continue Reading →
May 6th 1986 - Leicester University Now with 3 albums out, including big hit "The Whole of the Moon", The Waterboys were a well known band, but still hadn't really hit the big time. They had a great cult following, which included me, but to a certain extent, we were all a little bit disappointed... Continue Reading →
February 25th 1986 – De Montfort Hall Robin of Sherwood was a massive television hit at this time, with Jason Connery playing Robin (yep - Sean's son). Clannad were an Irish folk band and were fast gaining a reputation for haunting classical Irish folk music. They had already created the theme tune for Robin of... Continue Reading →
October 11th 1985 - Leicester Polytechnic The first Waterboys album I bought was A Pagan Place in 1984 on a recommendation. "The Big Music" and "The Thrill is Gone" were the two feature tracks, but the stand out track for me was "Rags". It was such a mix of sounds, rock, pop, orchestra and piano.... Continue Reading →
October 5th 1985 - Leicester University I'd say the Pogues were at their peak in 1985, for a number of reasons. They had just released their second album, Rum Sodomy and the Lash, which for me is still their greatest album (quite possibly because it was the first one I bought!). Secondly, in the years... November 28th 1984 – Leicester University I'm not sure if this was the "No Rest" or "Vengeance" Tour....I'll investigate further, if I was to bet, I'd go for "Vengeance". I'm afraid this is another gig where the ticket doesn't exist anymore. I don't think I understood the beauty of them for the early concerts. New... Continue Reading →
